Film Noir Slang

Do you have the sugar?
Yea I got the cabbage.
Did you pop him?
Nah, but I stuck it to him in the puss.
Did anyone see your guys confrontation?
I saw a punk walk by.
Do you think he will spill the beans to Johns?
No, it was a clean sneak.
Send some of our boys to pump metals at him?
Alright, we'll throw lead at him.

Film Noir

1. In your own words, define Film Noir.

My own definition of film noir is that they use setting and tone to describe the plot of the film and Film Noir is usually about crimes in the Forties and Fifties.

2. Compare your definition to the definition of the film critics.

I think that the definition of the film critics is a little more accurate and somewhat the same as mine. But I didn't get the part about the people crossing the lines and reaping the consequence.

3. Have you seen any of the quintessential films? Do you know any of the directors?

I have seen the most quintessential film which is An Inconvenient Truth. The director of that film is David Guggenheim.

Film Studies Binder Check

1. I organized according to the date that we did the assignment.
2. We have test, review sheets, essays, camera angles sheet, definition of terms, and etc....
3. We are on the year of 1941 on the timeline.
4. Yes, my view of the world of film has change a lot because I thought that back then they have sound like today. Also, I didn't know much about the film techniques and how the director use them to make it more interesting.
5. We have done Montage project, finding pictures to tell a story project, and currently podcast project. These projects help us understand it better and reinforce the stuff that we have learn in this class. I would think that the more we do project the better we are going to get at it.

Horror Movie

My favorite horror movie is SAW VI. I think it was the part that the people that were put in the game was scary because they have to do stuff to save themselves and sometimes they have to cut their body parts. The film techniques that they use is close-up, medium-shot, long-shot, and a lot of cross-cutting and tell us what the people are seeing in the room.

2. The effect of having censorship in the movie really takes away part of the movie because it add more action into the movie. The positive affects of censorship is that it cancel private parts, profanity, and perversion. The negative effects is that it takes away parts of the movie, can't understand the whole plot, and it is really weird.

3. A guy that was working at McDonalds and he got fire because he didn't satisfied the customer and then the customers reported him and saying that he try to rape her. After he got fire, he went to look for another job and he met another woman and then they live happily ever after.

4.A guy that was working at McDonalds and he was a dressing inappropriate. After work, he and his female coworkers did so making love in the kitchen on the counter and the boss caught him and fire him. After he got fired, he cursed and light the McDonald on fire and kill all the cops and fled to Mexico. Then, he was save in Mexico.

Gangster Movies

I think that American likes gangster movies so much because it has a lot of violence, strong language, obscured scene, and a lot of actions. The popularity of these movies tells a lot about us because we likes to see a huge amount of actions in movies today. These movies tells absolute about our culture because it is just made up, but some of it can be true. My favorite gangster movie is The Fast and The Furious series because it has racing and a lot of actions in it. It also makes my adrenaline goes much faster and feel like I am actually in the movie. I also like Swordfish and Scarface. All of these movie usually have the bad guy or mafia boss died in the end and the heroes is free from his trouble.

Introduction on Metropolis and Modern Times

Have you ever seen the movie Modern Times or Metropolis. Well, I saw both of the film Metropolis and Modern Times. They were both great movies that I watch and I had to say both of them have wonderful film techniques throughout the movie. Metropolis is a film that portrays workers as being robots because they keep on working and working. The boss’s son fell in love with a poor girl. The son and Maria tried to get the cooperation from the workers and the head of the city. While the mad scientist is trying to get his revenge on Frederic and so he uses the woman that Freder is in love with to destroy the city Metropolis. Modern Times describe the hardship of people during the Great Depression. It shows Chaplin get into trouble by accident and he eventually got fired and got put in jail. As he was in jail, robbers came to rescued their colleges and he put up a fight with them. After he rescued the police, the police chief give him a letter so that people can give him work. He met the girl and then he decided to work so they can get a house. Even though, he is not successful in the end; he still got the girl that he wanted. Even though, they are good movies; I think one of them is better than the other. I will explain to the different between science fictions and comedy.
