The director is Edwin Porter and he created the film called Battleship Potemkin. This film is important because it shows how people back then use contrast in black and white back and how do they use a lot of editing. so that they can use it to control people emotions and feelings. It is also important because they didn't have a lot of advance technology back then so it was pretty amazing to see them actually become creative and use their different techniques in film.

German Expressionism is German films that explored subjective images of horror interlaced with psychological and social themes. Some famous films are The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari (1920), Nosferatu (1922), and Metropolis (1926).
ReplyDeleteSome science fictions movies that I have seen are Star Wars, The Day the Earth Stood Still, Aliens vs Predators, Aliens, Predators, and Doom. Some characteristics of it is that they do some scary sounds and do a lot cross cutting from one scene to the other. They also do a lot repeating the scene to show that something is chasing them.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite comedy was Ace Ventura Jr. Pet Dectectibe because it was really funny. I like comedies that people act all funny and they do very funny stuff such as the Charlie Chaplin movie. Yes I like all physical comedies because I have watch them and I think that violence combine with silliness is a great combination for audience to watch. I have never seen British comedies. I like comedies with stunt and teens comedies. It is funny because teens are always trying to get the teacher back for being mean to them.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite movie from last month was Final Destination 4. The lighting that it use were kind of dark when something is about to happen and then they use white to show happiness and nothing is going on. It is the same with German Expressionism because they both use colors and music to create the mood of the story. They are different because one uses chiaroscuro while the other one doesn't. The set's were film on locations, but some of the sets were kind of creepy. The acting was amazing and you can actually feel like you are that person in the movie.
ReplyDeleteGeorge Lucas uses a closeup on the soldiers faces and then toward the door just before the clones come in and blasted the soldiers. George Lucas uses a medium shot to show all the soldiers standing at the door and he shows the expressions on their face just before the shooting and they are being killed by storm troopers.They both uses sound effects and uses musics to create emotions and feeling in the begin. George Lucas get you hook on by using actions and violence right away and while D.W. Griffith uses iris and musics to portray the bad guy or to controlled people emotions.
